Children’s Electrical Safety

We must teach our children about being safe around electricity and electrical products from as young as they will understand. The last thing you want to happen is for something bad to happen due to them being unaware of the risks!

So, today we are going to share with you some of the most common electrical safety tips for you to tell your children.

Firstly, the most common of them all, do not put your fingers or anything in plug sockets. This poses a huge risk as they are going near open electricity.

It is also important as parents that we do not leave any cables around the home. These electrical cables do pose a huge risk as children may begin to play with them. They could cause themself harm, or even strangle themselves. Keeping electrical cables away and telling your children not to play with them will keep them safe.

Once your children are given their own phones, they will likely want to have it on charge, under their pillow, as close to them as possible as this seems safest. You need to teach your children that this poses a huge risk. Having your phone under your pillow can cause it to overheat, which may in serious cases result in a fire. This puts your child in huge danger of being caught on fire, damaging themself and the home.

You also need to teach your children with their own electricals about the dangers of using fake chargers. These are most commonly used with mobile phones. These fake chargers are generally cheaply made and will catch fire more easily than ones professionally made by well-known companies.

So to keep your children safe tell them this, stay away from sockets and wires until they are older, and only use branded items! Do not worry, no one will go through your phone in the night.
